Inclusive Classrooms in Practice: SEN, Wellbeing, Outdoor Learning and Community Engagement

This course supports Department of Education priorities in inclusive education, teacher wellbeing, School Self-Evaluation (SSE), digital technologies, sustainability and community partnership.
It is designed to enhance teachers’ professional capacity to implement inclusive practices that promote equity, participation and learner engagement for all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The programme adopts a whole-school improvement perspective. It integrates inclusive classroom practice, teacher wellbeing, outdoor and biodiversity-based learning, and community engagement to support sustainable school development.
The course aims to:
• Strengthen teacher competence in inclusive education and the Continuum of Support.
• Develop practical expertise in differentiation
• Promote sustainable teacher wellbeing practices that support inclusive school culture.
• Integrate outdoor learning and biodiversity into inclusive pedagogy.
• Enhance assessment literacy and effective feedback strategies.
• Support the purposeful integration of digital technologies and assistive tools.
• Embed inclusive practice within School Self-Evaluation processes.
• Strengthen understanding of the school’s role as a central community partner.
