Wellbeing for Students. Part 1: The Prescription for Safety: Connection, Co-Regulation and Belonging

Bee Ready Series - Wellbeing for Students
Part 1: The Prescription for Safety: Connection, Co-Regulation and Belonging
Before students can engage, learn or regulate independently, they need to experience safety. This session explores the “prescription” for emotional and relational safety: predictable adults, connection, belonging, co-regulation and environments that reduce unnecessary stress.
Participants will consider how behaviour can communicate discomfort, uncertainty or unmet need, and how everyday adult responses can either increase or reduce a student’s sense of safety.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Explain the relationship between felt safety, wellbeing, regulation and learning.
- Identify practical ways to strengthen connection, trust and belonging throughout the school day.
- Use co-regulation and low-pressure approaches to support students experiencing stress or dysregulation.
- Reflect on how adult language, body language, predictability and responses can influence student wellbeing.
