Exploring Democracy: Teaching about the Houses of the Oireachtas

 

 

NOTE: This is face-to-face event in Limerick Education Support Centre

Following many requests, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Conor Reale, Parliamentary Education officer in the Houses of the Oireachtas to Limerick Education Support Centre.

This one-hour workshop is designed for teachers of CSPE, Transition Year and Politics and Society

Discover engaging ways to teach students about Ireland’s parliamentary democracy, how the Oireachtas works, the law-making process, and the role of elected representatives. Participants will be introduced to a range of free classroom resources, including lesson plans and other teaching materials developed by the Houses of the Oireachtas, all of which will be distributed during the session.

This practical workshop will support teachers in bringing active citizenship and democratic participation to life in their classrooms.

All attendees will receive a Goodie-Bag of resources!!

Speaker:

Dr. Conor Reale is the Parliamentary Education Officer for the Houses of the Oireachtas in Leinster House where he develops educational resources and programmes that promote engagement with the democratic process. Conor specialises in helping teachers and students explore the workings of the Oireachtas and the evolution of Parliament, Government and society in modern Ireland. Prior to taking up this role he was a second level teacher in the Abbey CBS in Tipperary Town teaching Geography, History and CSPE.
