Low-Pressure Communication. Helping Children Express Emotions, Needs and Choices Without Feeling Put on the Spot

Webinar Description

This webinar explores gentle, low-pressure ways SNAs and teachers can support children to communicate how they feel, what they need, and what they find difficult. Using tools such as animal check-ins, numbers, choices, visuals, movement and indirect language, participants will learn how to reduce pressure, build trust and create safer communication moments throughout the school day.

Learning Objectives

By the end, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand why some children struggle to talk directly about emotions.
  2. Use low-pressure check-ins such as numbers, animals, visuals and choices.
  3. Support emotional communication without forcing eye contact or verbal answers.
  4. Apply practical strategies during transitions, behaviour support and daily routines.
