Being Online - Digital Citizenship and Media Literacy

 

 

 

 

 

This workshop helps primary teachers explore key supports and resources available to address the opportunities and challenges of the online world. The session will focus on digital citizenship and media and information literacy. Participants will learn to develop critical thinking skills in pupils, address mis/disinformation, and access practical resources to incorporate digital citizenship in the classroom.

Facilitator:

Martin is a qualified primary school teacher, with a Masters in Education, with 16 years of classroom and SET experience. He has an AP2 post with particular responsibility in leading learning and teaching in Digital Technologies in his school. He has worked on TIE projects with the Department of Education and the OIDE TIE for the past 4 years, for example, acting as lead cluster co-ordinator on behalf of 8 schools, to enhance children’s curiosity and skills in STEM subjects through the stimulus of WeDo 2.0/ Mindstorms EV3 construction and robotics set and ease their transition through primary and into post-primary education. He has facilitated a Digital Technology courses for the Clare and Limerick Education Centre in recent years. Recently, he has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in School Leadership in UL and has a keen interest in coaching and mentoring.
