Eochair for primary - Invitation to participate in a pilot project
Only 3 places left!!
We have an exciting opportunity for your school to be involved in a new pilot project for primary schools, supported by Limerick Education Support Centre and ETBI. Eochair is a programme of professional learning for primary school teachers, which focuses on pedagogy and professional reflection.
The programme, informed by the Instructional Leadership Programme for Post Primary teachers, has been designed to support senior and teacher leaders in the implementation of the new primary curriculum.
The Eochair programme:
• Empowers Practitioners: Helps teachers develop pedagogical approaches aligned with the Primary Curriculum Framework.
• Provides a toolkit for Teachers: Offers engaging instructional tactics, strategies, and skills to effectively deliver the eight Principles of Learning, Teaching, and Assessment.
• Creates Active, Fun, Inclusive Classrooms: Methodologies can be easily incorporated into daily lesson planning across all curricular areas and class levels.
• Focuses on Active Learning: Central to the philosophy, promoting play-based and inquiry-led learning to develop communication and collaborative skills while boosting wellbeing.
• Offers multi-faceted Assessment Approaches: Emphasises skills development, high-quality questioning strategies, and concept mapping to help teachers assess learners towards reaching their potential.
The pilot programme will be scaffolded by the Learning School Project framework, (a framework currently used to support post-primary schools with SSE & school improvement).
Involvement with the pilot project will require a commitment by 2 teachers from each school attending Eochair, the Instructional Leadership Summer Course in Limerick ESC (July 1st-5th) and also to attend a further 20hrs CPD, comprised of evening/Saturday workshops during the next academic year. The teachers will be required to engage in pre-readings and reflective practice activities throughout the pilot.
