Getting started with STEAM
SCIENCE WEEK 2024
Science Week is the national week of celebration of Science with hundreds of events for people of all ages taking place across Ireland.
Science Week 2024 is taking place from the 10th – 17th November.
Limerick Education Support Centre is one of a group of Education Support Centres which is currently involved in running ITEN, an online platform for short online CPD courses for teachers.
This year, as part of our Science Week activities, we are offering a free course on Science Technology Engineering Arts and Maths (STEAM) to all teachers in our catchment area.
“Getting Started with STEAM” is an online course which you can dip into and complete in your own time.
The course is designed for both junior and senior classes, it is brimming with engaging, hands-on resources to make STEAM concepts come alive.
What’s on the course:
- Practical use of STEAM Kits: From Lego Education to screen-free activities, access practical tools to make STEAM fun and accessible for all ages.
- Interactive Learning: Explore video tutorials, coding exercises, and quizzes that keep students motivated and immersed in learning.
- Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Help students develop critical thinking skills, tackle challenges, and delve into the engineering design process.
- Comprehensive Classroom Resources: Find guides tailored for both junior and senior students, making it easy to integrate STEAM into your curriculum.
