Digital Badge course on Using Evidence for School Wellbeing
Using Evidence for School Wellbeing
In partnership with the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, we are delighted to announce that the Teacher Research Exchange (T-REX) will facilitate a Digital Badge on Using Evidence for School Wellbeing. The course was developed by T-REX in collaboration with the Teaching Council, the NCCA and practising teachers.
But first, some information....
What is the T-REX Digital Badge?
The T-REX Digital Badge is a free, introductory-level research course, that is based fully online. The course will explore how to develop wellbeing related research questions for your school. As well as this, the course will cover how to find and critically review relevant evidence that will support an evidence-informed action plan for your school.
Who should take part?
We are looking for teachers, from both primary and secondary school settings, who have an interest in research and wellbeing.
How long does the course last?
The course will last 10 weeks, running from the 7th of March until the 9th of May. The course involves approximately 2.5 hours contact per week, to be completed at your convenience.
Will I be working on my own?
The Digital Badge requires participants work on their own and as part of a Peer Triad. A peer triad is a group of three participants who work together to share and discuss their approach to professional development. Communication with your triad is essential, using methods that are convenient and agreeable to all. To gain the digital badge, your triad will be required to share how you have met the badge criteria in each activity.
What will be covered?
The Digital Badge blends module based learning with self-directed learning. Weeks 1-5 will have taught content, including one independent learning activity each week, and weeks 6-10 will be self-directed, with two self-study weeks, two drop-in clinics with Course Facilitators and a final Review Workshop with Course Facilitators at week 10.
What happens if I fall behind or miss a week?
No problem! The majority of content can be accessed and completed at a time that suits the commitments of both you and your triad. Everyone's week looks different, and we just ask that you complete the tasks assigned based on your collective schedules. It is important to note that there will be two live webinars during the programme and attendance is strongly encouraged. These will be held at a time that is convenient so that everyone can attend.
Why should I take part?
This is a pilot implementation of the T-REX Using Evidence for School Wellbeing Digital Badge. Participants have the opportunity to explore a real classroom/school issue relevant to Wellbeing and consider existing evidence as a starting point for tackling the issue. Feedback from teachers who have completed the Digital Badge previously has been very positive.
How do I sign up?
Please find the sign-up link below to declare your interest in the course. Places will be given on a first come first served basis.
