The Big Picture - Science Week competition

Science Week is taking place from 8-15 November this year. Each year Mary Immaculate College collaborate with colleagues in UL and LIT to produce a programme of events that form the Limerick Festival of Science.  This year it will be a virtual event.

As MIC are not in a position to hold workshops and science shows at Mary Immaculate College this year, they have sought ways to bring the events virtually to the classrooms. Many schools across Limerick and Clare have accepted their invitation to take part in interactive science workshops.  They are also running a photography competition for schools, The Big Picture.  They are asking classes to have a conversation about science, what it is, and what it looks like, and to explore the science in their schools, yard, homes, and localities. Pupils then, either individually or in groups, can photograph this piece of science, give it a caption, and then email it into MIC to be in with a chance of winning a science equipment voucher for their school.  This competition is open to all primary schools in Limerick and Clare.
