Múineadh na Fichille is an opportunity for primary school teachers to learn how to both play and teach chess. This summer course is delivered as Gaeilge and will be of particular interest to teachers in Irish-medium schools interested in bringing chess to their schools/classrooms and to teachers in English-medium schools who would like to polish their scileanna Gaeilge, whilst learning how to play chess. The course is intended to be fun and hands-on, while giving teachers a life-time skill that they can use in a variety of ways in their schools. Múineadh na Fichille will pay precise interest in practical ways to integrate chess to the primary school curriculum. The benefits of chess for children are endless, with particular success reported in areas such as increased empathy, enhanced social skills and improved critical thinking.
