Creating a Dyslexia Friendly Classroom

This presentation is suitable for teachers and special needs assistants who would like to know more about dyslexia and how to screen for dyslexic-type difficulties, with a view of developing suitable interventions for learners.
The presentation will provide participants with:
• A Brief overview of the history and causal theories of dyslexia.
• A knowledge of the different types of dyslexia.
• An insight of the possible signs of dyslexia in the classroom environment.
• A range of screeners/tests for teachers to use to identify dyslexic-type difficulties in order to inform suitable interventions.
• A knowledge of practical strategies to help learners with dyslexia reach their potential.
• Resources which can be used in the classroom.
Michelle Kelly, a trainee Educational Psychologist with many years of experience in the classroom setting with deliver this presentation. Michelle has a keen interest in the area of dyslexia and is passionate about removing barriers to learning for children.
