Primary Language Curriculum Primary Learning Cluster Meeting - Longcourt House Hotel, Newcastle West

Dear Principal,              

Following the recent delivery of the Whole Staff Seminar Day on Reading/Léitheoireacht and Writing/Scríbhneoireacht from Infants to 2^nd Class, you are invited to nominate at least one teacher to attend a local cluster meeting. The Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) in conjunction with Limerick Education Centre will provide professional development support for teachers in relation to implementing the Primary Language Curriculum (PLC) in your school.  

 The meeting will be facilitated by a PDST advisor whose role here is to facilitate local groups of teachers to work together as a professional learning community enhancing each others knowledge and practice in a supportive setting. This opportunity has been created in response to feedback received after the seminar day requesting additional time to engage with the curriculum. 

In the longer term it is intended that these local cluster meetings will continue next year and beyond with a view to developing established professional learning communities where you and other teachers can actively engage with each other to increase your professional knowledge and to  enhance your practice, ultimately impacting positively on student  learning.  Cluster meetings will allow you to avail of further professional development in the Primary Languages Curriculum and there will be opportunities for sharing/exchanging practical ideas with your teacher colleagues from other schools.

Our aim is to provide you with an opportunity to discuss the possibilities of the PLC in your school with support and guidance from PDST.

Places are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Therefore, we would ask all interested teachers to register through the local education centre website at the link below. The PDST advisor will e-mail the registered attendees a week prior to the meeting to ascertain what areas of the Primary Language Curriculum they wish to prioritise at the meeting.
