ESCI - EAL Series - 2 workshops

Strategies to support the inclusion of primary school students with SEN from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

This webinar will take place over two evenings - Monday 17 October and Monday 24 October 7pm-8.30pm

Learning Outcomes - 

  1. Discuss the concept of Inclusion
  2. Explore assessments and how to identify strengths and needs of pupils with SEN from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  3. Identify resources and interventions to meet the needs of pupils with SEN from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  4. Discuss how to support the behaviour/social/emotional needs of pupils
  5. Explore how digital technology can be used to support the needs of pupils
  6. Highlight general strategies to support pupils with SEN from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Facilitators - Geraldine O'Loughlin & Rose-Marie Flanagan

Geraldine O'Loughlin is Principal of Scoil Mhuire Náisiunta, Corofin, Co.Clare.  She has a graduate Diploma and a Masters of Education in the area of Special Education, both awarded from Mary Immaculate College.  She has just returned to her school after completing a fiver year secondment with the National Council for Special Education, where she worked as an Advisor on the Primary Inclusion Team.

Rose-Marie Flanagan is an administrative Principal at St. Anne's School, Ennis, Co. Clare.  She worked as a SENCO, special class teacher, special education teacher and mainstream class teacher in St. Joseph's Secondary School, Tulla, Co Clare. Rose-Marie also completed a five-year secondment as an Advisor with the NCSE and currently works as an Assoicate with the NCSE.
