The Role of Special Interests for Autistic Pupils

Autistic children and young people often have strong, passionate interests. These often form an important part of their identity, bring huge joy and offer comfort when needed. In this webinar Evaleen Whelton, founder AUsome Training, Ireland's Autistic-led training provider will delve into the role special interests or SPINS can play for Autistic children and young people, how we can connect with our pupils through their interests, find shared experiences , incorporate them into our lessons and maybe even learn a thing or two from kids who are often experts in their area of interests.

Evaleen is Autistic and advocates for the rights of Autistic people as well as having 20 years teaching experience as a Speech and Drama Teacher, an author, trainer, and Autistic-led event organiser. She has a special interest in mental health and communication
