This course is designed for primary and post-primary school learning support/resource teachers who work with pupils who have special educational needs (SEN). Assistive Technologies include any technology can assist students with disabilities in overcoming barriers within their educational environment.
This six-week course will introduce teachers and other educational professionals to assistive technologies in the classroom. This course will provide an overview of assistive technology, the different types of assistive technology available on windows for all disabilities and models of implementation in the classroom.
This course will focus on assistive technologies that can be utilised on a windows laptop in both primary and post-primary.
The course will go into detail on how to support pupils who are having difficulties with literacy, maths, writing, executive functioning and note-taking. The course will also cover how to support pupils with physical disabilities, low vision and who are hard of hearing using a windows laptop.
Note: This course will only cover the windows operating system, courses on GSuite and iPad applications available on request.

Requirements: Attendees should have access to a laptop running windows 10 (ideally) and an activated version of Microsoft Office, preferably Microsoft 365. During the webinar, we will explore all the built-in accessibility features available in the Windows 10 operating system and the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
