9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Executive function; self-management skills
Executive function (EF) is an umbrella term for the cognitive processes that help us regulate, control and manage our thoughts and actions. EF is like the CEO of our brain and is important for self-management skills, such as organisation, time management, attention, prioritisation, self-regulation, etc. Learn more about the Occupational Therapy perspective on these essential skills and how to deal with practical challenges in this area.
We all know children who are overly sensitive to touch or to sounds, while others don’t seem to notice that they are constantly moving or invading someone’s personal space. Primary Education teacher and Occupational Therapist Ageeth (Kate) Hup will talk about how Sensory Processing difficulties can interfere with participation at school and will provide ideas and practical strategies.
